Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from global buyers working with EWNS Sourcing for the first time — and a few from experienced clients too.
Getting Started
What types of clients does EWNS Sourcing work with?+
We work with global retailers, brands, and buying offices of all sizes — from large-volume mass retailers like COSTCO and WALMART to mid-market fashion brands and design-led lifestyle retailers. If you're buying or developing product in India, we can add value.
How do I start a sourcing conversation with EWNS?+
Simply reach out via our contact page or email us at info@ewnssourcing.com. Tell us about your product category, approximate volumes, target markets, and timeline, and we'll schedule an introductory call to explore how we can help.
Is EWNS Sourcing an agent or a trading company?+
We are an independent sourcing and supply chain management company — not a manufacturer ourselves. We act as your on-the-ground partner in India, managing suppliers, production, compliance and logistics on your behalf, with your commercial interests as our priority.
Products & Categories
What product categories do you source?+
We source across four main divisions: Home Furnishing & Décor (rugs, cushions, throws, bedding, table linen, outdoor), Apparel (tops, dresses, outerwear, activewear, sleepwear, ethnic), Fashion Accessories (bags, scarves, hats, jewellery, belts), and Leather Goods (bags, pouches). We also manage seasonal and sustainable product development.
Can you develop new products from scratch?+
Yes. Product development is a core part of our offering. We can take a brief from concept (mood board, reference images) through to technical drawings, sampling, and sealed samples ready for production.
Do you work with sustainable or organic materials?+
Yes, and it's a growing part of our portfolio. We source GOTS-certified organic cotton, OCS-certified materials, GRS-certified recycled fibres, and work with natural dye techniques. We'll advise on what's commercially achievable within your cost parameters.
Sampling & Lead Times
What are typical sampling lead times?+
Proto samples typically take 2–4 weeks from spec confirmation. Fit samples take 1–2 weeks after proto approval. Pre-production samples take 2–3 weeks. Overall, allow 8–14 weeks for a complete development cycle. Timelines vary by category complexity.
What is your minimum order quantity?+
MOQs vary by product and factory. For most home textiles, MOQ starts around 200–500 pieces per design. Apparel typically starts at 300–500 pieces per style per colour. We can often negotiate lower minimums for new clients in the development phase — please discuss your requirements with our team.
Can you source samples before we commit to production?+
Absolutely. We recommend this. Sampling allows you to validate design, quality, and cost before any production commitment. We manage the full sampling process and keep you informed at every stage.
Quality & Compliance
How do you ensure product quality?+
We manage quality at every stage: supplier vetting before engagement, pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during production, and final inspection before shipment. We use a combination of our own team and third-party inspection services (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) as appropriate.
How do you handle social compliance?+
We only engage factories that have passed, or are actively working toward, recognised social compliance standards (BSCI, Sedex, SA8000). We coordinate audit scheduling, support factories through pre-audit preparation, and ensure corrective actions are completed before production.
Can you arrange product safety testing?+
Yes. We coordinate all product testing through accredited third-party laboratories. This includes chemical testing (REACH), performance testing, flammability, colour fastness, and category-specific standards. We can align testing with the regulatory requirements of your target market (UK, EU, USA).
What happens if a production run has quality issues?+
We address quality issues proactively through in-line inspections, so most problems are caught and resolved before final shipment. If issues arise at final inspection, we work with the factory immediately to identify the root cause, implement rework or replacement, and re-inspect before goods are shipped.
Logistics & Payments
Do you manage shipping and logistics?+
Yes. We coordinate the full logistics process — from factory to your destination port or warehouse. This includes freight forwarder selection, container booking, export documentation, customs clearance, and shipment tracking.
What shipping options do you offer?+
We arrange both sea freight (FCL and LCL) and air freight depending on urgency and volume. We work with established freight forwarders to secure competitive rates and reliable transit times.
How is EWNS Sourcing's service fee structured?+
Our fee structure is transparent and discussed during the initial engagement. We typically work on a service fee basis relative to order value. Full details are shared during our onboarding conversation.
